I have learned that some of the absolute WORST things to hear when you are suffering and have attempted to share what you’re feeling with someone is: “But you shouldn’t feel that way.” or anything to the effect of “But it’s in the past, can’t you just get over it?” (Even if it’s not stated that way but implied). Such statements are entirely invalidating and not helpful in the least.  Plus, do you think that someone who hears those replies…
